Eleven Days of Liddabit: Day Nine, Joan

Joan is not only our operations manager; she’s a company partner, head of wholesale and online order fulfillment, HR, compliance, keeping-Liz-and-Jen-organized, and so much more. She also thoughtfully provided links for her wishlist, so if anyone feels like getting her a little present…

Do you have a favorite holiday memory?
Our first holiday season at Liddabit was very tiring – I was working another full-time job at the time and came by as often as I could to help Liz & Jen out, who were barely sleeping and/or eating. We went to Marlow & Sons after the Brooklyn Flea Gifted market closed up for the season, invited a random friend from Nunu along, and proceeded to have a meal of epic proportions which included oysters, chicken liver pate, madeira, cocktails, various desserts, and I’m not even sure what else. It was delicious and amazing and utterly joyful.

What food do you only eat during the holidays? Do you look forward to it all year, or dread it?
I make a cranberry jello mold every Thanksgiving, and as cheesily midwestern as it sounds, it is incredibly delicious. So yes, I look forward to making it and sharing the jello joy with new people every year.

What gift(s) would you like to get for the holidays?
Alice Medrich’s Flavor Flours, Heidi Swanson’s Near & Far, or some fancy soap.

What is your favorite Liddabit treat, and why?
We don’t make it much anymore, but I’m partial to the Lime & Coconut, since it’s so light, as well as gluten and dairy free. They were my carb of choice when I was training for the marathon in 2013.
