Wow.  Just…wow.

First of all, thank you all times a million for supporting us so overwhelmingly throughout the holidays, and thinking of us to gift to your friends, family, and other assorted loved ones.  Never in a million years did we think we’d sell out of EVERYTHING – you guys are all the jam.  To the max.

Secondly, happy new year to everyone!  We’re just getting back on our feet from the holidays, and man oh man do we have some fun stuff in store.  But you don’t get to hear about it yet.  For now, we’ll have all your old favorites at the Flea at One Hanson starting next Saturday, January 16th – look for what to expect sometime next week.

In case you missed it, we got a barrage of really cool press in the past month-and-a-bit!  Quick recap:

-Edible Brooklyn featured us in their Notable Edibles for December;

-we did a fun interview with Serious Eats about our favorite places to go and things to nosh;

-OH MY FREAKING GOD THE NEW YORK TIMES MENTIONED US IN THE DINING CALENDAR;

-we fared well as the rookies in NYMag/Grub Street’s roundup of chocolate gifts (we love you, Michael Laiskonis!);

-Food Curated’s Liza de Guia shot a lovely video starring our candy (and yours truly).

…unbelievable.  We can’t wait to see what this year has in store.  Looking forward to seeing y’all at the Flea next weekend!

-The Post has a neat little piece on the recent(ish) proliferation of local markets, with a mention for a bunch of our BK food pals;

-Grub Street features the opening of Northern Spy Food Co., our first (and so far only!) Manhattan retailer; and

-NY Food Chain, a blog written by grad journalism students at Columbia, chatted with us on what has now become known as Martha Sunday.

Thanks guys!  Couldn’t do it without y’all’s help getting the word out.  Long as you want to chat with us, we’ll do our best to be entertaining!

…aside from that, the show itself is pretty cool — sort of a beginner’s guide to the Brooklyn food scene, if you will — and a lot of our friends got some facetime with the Lady herself.  Check out the show here, and let us know what you think!

What are you trying to do, media?  Smother us?  All we’re trying to do is make awesome candy for people and here you go — *shudder* — EXPOSING us like this.  It’s inhumane, I tell you!

…aww, we’re just joshing.  We love it.  Though we do have to ask you to simma dahn nah a little — due to demand, our turnaround has slowed up a bit.  But fear not — we’ll be back in fantastic shape in time for the holidays!  And of course, for you locals, we’re at the Flea every day till the end of the outdoor season (Nov. 21); and then we move to Manhattan for the Gifted Holiday Market!  (more info to come.)

So enjoy it while it lasts, paparazzi.  We’ll get our lives back to normal someday…

The venerable Village Voice’s food blog, Fork In The Road, visited the Flea today! (who wouldn’t, with such perfect weather?)  They sampled everyone’s goodies, snapped a few photos, and seemed to like — surprise! — our Beer & Pretzels.  Check out the full coverage here.

In our book, though, the real winner today was the Pecan Pie candy bar — we came pretty close to selling out, but managed to come away with a couple for ourselves (yes, we eat our own candy.  Don’t lie and say you wouldn’t, too).  The Gingerbread caramels were also a hit, and we’re already planning for new stuff next week.

…what, you think you get to find out now?  psssh.  Next Friday, kiddies.

We had a blast at the Swirl event this past Wednesday — delicious desserts, delicious wine, and a fun-loving crowd diggin on it all.  We debuted the Dorie Bar for the tasting.  Named for and inspired by our friend and mentor Dorie Greenspan, it paired beautifully with the crisp sparkling Vouvray chosen by Swirl owner Anu Karwa.

Our pals at Serious Eats also happened to be there, fancy cameras and appetites in tow!  Check out their writeup of the event, complete with a full description of the Dorie Bar (as well as the other goodies) and gorgeous photos, here.
